ARIT ANKARA CENTER

The ARIT Ankara Center is located in Çankaya, Ankara in a building that overlooks Seğmenler Park and the well-kept residences of the Foreign and Prime Ministers of Turkey. It is close to shopping and dining establishments, and only a fifteen-minute walk from the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara (BIAA).  ARIT Ankara provides study and meeting spaces, specialized library collections, and internet access.  The ARIT Ankara staff develop lectures and programs open to visiting and local scholars.

The ARIT Ankara Library is named after Dr. Toni M. Cross who served as director from 1979 until 2002.   The Library holds approximately 13,000 monographs and journals focused on archaeological studies, but also includes resources for scholars working on modern Turkish studies.  Access to JSTOR, the digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources, is available to library patrons. The holdings in Turkish archaeology include the library of Professor Machteld J. Mellink, prominent archaeologist of ancient Anatolia.
